The Legal Grove – Version 1.3 (UK, US, PL)

The Short Version

The Service: A digital ledger for families. We track chores, not real money.
Ownership: We own the app and code. You own your family's data.
Payments: One-time purchases only – no subscriptions. Processed securely by Stripe; a Stripe/Morechard reference will appear on your statement.
Disputes: We're a neutral record-keeper, not a court or mediator – see Section 7 on how our exports can and can't be used.
Privacy: Nicknames only. 30-day "Soft-Delete" window for safety.

1. The Agreement

By checking the box and creating a Morechard account, you enter into a legal contract with us. If you are managing an Orchard for your family, you represent that you have the authority to do so and consent for your children's participation via nicknames.

2. Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc., our payment processor. Stripe handles your card details directly – we never see or store your full card number. Your bank statement will show a reference including "Stripe" and/or "Morechard." All purchases are one-time payments (see Section 5); Morechard, not Stripe, is responsible for the licence you receive and for customer service enquiries about your purchase.

3. Not a Financial Institution

Morechard is a recording tool. We are not a bank, e-money provider, or payment processor. No real money is ever deposited into, held by, or transferred through our servers. All financial transactions (e.g., giving your child actual cash) happen outside the app at your own discretion.

4. The Manual Record Source of Truth

While we strive for 100% uptime and accuracy, technology can glitch. You agree that your own manual records are the final word. We are not liable for any discrepancies in digital balances shown in the app.

5. Trial & One-Time Purchase Terms

We provide a 14-day free trial. After this period, the app locks until a one-time licence is purchased – Morechard Core, Core AI, or Shield AI (see Section 6). There is no subscription and nothing renews or bills automatically. Payments are handled by Stripe (Section 2). You may request a full refund within the 14-day trial window; once a licence is purchased and the trial period has ended, purchases are final except where required by law.

6. Lifetime Licences & The Sunset Clause

If you purchase a Lifetime Licence, you are granted access to the Morechard features available at the time of purchase for the functional life of the app.

Support Period: We commit to maintaining the app for as long as it is commercially viable.
Closing the Grove: If we decide to discontinue Morechard, we will provide at least 180 days' notice. During this time, we will provide a Final Certified Export of your data.
Legacy Access: Where technically feasible, we may provide a "Local-Only" version of the app so you can continue to access your records offline after our servers close.

7. Family Disputes & Co-Parenting

Morechard is a neutral platform.

Records, Not Legal Advice: Our ledger exports – including the optional Forensic Report – are built with tamper-evident hashing and audit detail reflecting standards commonly expected of financial record-keeping. We do not guarantee that any court, tribunal, or mediator will accept them as evidence, and admissibility is always decided by that forum, not by us. Nothing in these Terms or in our marketing is legal advice; if you intend to rely on a Morechard export in a legal or custody proceeding, consult a qualified lawyer first.
Neutrality: We will not act as a mediator. If one parent deletes an account, we follow our 30-day safety protocol before permanent erasure.
Indemnity: You agree to indemnify Morechard against any legal costs incurred if we are subpoenaed or otherwise compelled to participate in your private legal disputes.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: (a) hack or stress-test our servers; (b) reverse-engineer the app; (c) use the app for any illegal activity; (d) create accounts for children using their full legal names or sensitive personal identifiers.

9. Intellectual Property

We own all rights to the Morechard name, logo, code, and "The Orchard" branding. You are granted a limited licence to use the app for personal, non-commercial family purposes. You retain all rights to the specific chore data and balances you enter.

10. Warranty & Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MORECHARD IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. IN ALL CASES, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP LICENCE.

11. Soft-Delete & GDPR

Under GDPR (UK/PL), you have the right to be forgotten. When you delete your account, we trigger a 30-day "Soft-Delete." Your data is hidden immediately but remains on our servers for 30 days to allow for accidental recovery or co-parent recourse. After 30 days, your personal identifiers are permanently purged, except for pseudonymised ledger records retained for up to 7 years to preserve hash-chain integrity (see our Privacy Policy, Section 6), after which they too are permanently deleted.

12. Payout Details (Payment Bridge)

If you use Payment Bridge to store a child's bank or payout details for faster reward payouts, those details are encrypted on your device and saved only there – not on our servers – and are treated as expired when you close the tab or app. See our Privacy Policy for details. Do not enter payout details on a shared or public device.

13. AI Mentor

AI Mentor is included with the Core AI and Shield AI licences (Section 6) as a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It uses minimised app data (such as chore completion rates and savings goals) to provide educational insights and financial coaching, generated using OpenAI as our AI provider (see our Privacy Policy, Section 4).

Privacy Guarantee: We do not send real names, email addresses, or precise location data to our Large Language Model provider. We do send your child's nickname together with minimised behavioural summaries, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Data Usage: Your family's data is never used to train the underlying LLM models.

14. Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes regarding the use of the Morechard software shall be settled in the courts of the United Kingdom. If you are a resident of the EU, you may also have rights to bring proceedings in your local courts.
